I use Laguna BMix5, can I use a porcelain slip to decorate?
SLIPS
I would be worried about the different firing temperatures and shrinkage rate. Porcelain usually shrinks more than stoneware, so there may be flaking off. Is your porcelain ꕔ6? I always make my slip from the slip clay I am using, Hope this helps.
Hi...Thank you for responding! and yes, the slip is rated to C6 I trailed a few designs on a test tile and it did not shrink or crack any more/less than the clay body, so this weekend, I'm going to fire and see what happens. Thanks again for answering! ClayShare Community IS THE BEST!
Marie,
Experiment is the best teacher! Slip trailing is not likely to crack- problems are usually associated when covering a whole pot, then the surface tension is more acute! I am guessing you will have no problems.
