Making a mug using underglaze transfers is a great way to add surface decoration to wheel thrown forms. In this class you will learn how to throw a mug and to make a handle. Then I will show you how to use underglaze transfers on both! This class is suitable for all levels of wheel throwing.

Pottery Wheel
1.25 lbs of clay for mug and .5 lb for handle (I am using Laguna bmix5 without grog)
Medium red mud tool rib and Wooden rib
Wooden clay knife
Dolan Clay Knife
Cutting wire
Needle Tool
Serrated Rib
Trimming tool
Serrated rib
Clay shaper
Flower shaped cookie cutter 1.5” (optional)
Underglaze transfers (also called underglaze decals)
Bucket for Water
Bat for pottery wheel (optional)
Scissors
Ruler
Underglaze to match the transfer
Sumi brush or any brush you like to use
A kiln or access to one
