Finally, I am getting settled back in to the studio after being away for the Fired Arts Expo.
I am so excited to be firing the L&L Plug N Fire kiln to cone 10 for the first time. Usually I make my own cone 10 glazes but for these tests I went with Mayco Stoneware glazes. The best I’ve tried so far is the Green Tea and my least favorite is the Maycoshino and the Oxblood. I’ve since found from a few other potters that the Mayco Oxblood is a difficult glaze so I won’t be using that again.
I hate flying more than anything but I discovered on my recent trip to Wisconsin that if I draw it helps to distract me and keeps my anxiety manageable. So I drew a bunch of new Halloween and Autumn inspired designs which are now available as textured rolling pins on Claysharemarket.com
I ended the week making some bowls and cups with the Speedball Boss Base. If you have not tried it it’s a great opening tool. Check out my videos on using it to see if it’s for you!
