Handbuilding Ceramic Canvases

Learn how to make your own ceramic canvas to use for wall hanging your ceramic art! Ceramic Canvases are a great way to show off your creativity, you can create abstract texture designs, paint on the surfaces, add sprigs and attachment to them, use them for underglaze decals or overglaze decals. You can also China paint on them or add luster to them, test out cool glaze combos and even do glaze pouring on them. There are limitless ways you can use your ceramic canvas and this class will teach you how you can easily make them in any shapeo r size you want! This class is perfect for all ages and skill levels.

Materials:
2-3 lbs of clay, rolled out to a 3/8” slab, you can use any clay you like, here I am using Laguna bmix
Clay Knife, I am using the Dolan 220s,
Flexible ribs, I am using the large yellow and #1 red Sherrill mud tool
Sponge
Shapes for templates, anything will do, found objects such as plates, GR Pottery forms, cookie cutters, etc.
Bowl or bucket of water
Serrated rib
Color shaper/clay shaper
Rolling pin
Ware board, here I am using ¾” plywood
Kiln, your own or access to one
