I am so excited to share this ClayShare Challenge with you. For April and May we will be doing “A Slice of Life”. We will be making our own texture from objects or surfaces we encounter in our daily life, or you can use found objects for your texture. Some great surface to make texture from are rocks, flowers, leaves, trees, mailboxes, manhole covers, walls, doorknobs, metal fixtures, old metal tools or siding/roofing, wooden trim or accent pieces, bricks, buttons, jewelry, coils of rope or cord, chicken wire or fencing, shoe soles, license plates, textured papers, rubber mats like for gripping jars, welcome mats, bath mats, wash boards, glass or silver bowls, platters or vessels, other pots, really the possibilities are endless.
Be sure to get permission if you are making a texture from someone else’s property and please clean any clay left behind off the surface when you are done.
I will be teaching a class on how to make texture slabs from textures you find out and about which will include my go to supplies for a traveling texture kit. If you cannot find any texture to make you own textures from then using commercially available texture is fine too.
Yes, there will be a new class to go along with this challenge but here are some great existing ClayShare classes to get you started.

Please do not put pressure on yourselves or compare your work to others, everyone is at different places in their pottery journey. Just work at your own pace and if this challenge is not for you then you can skip it or go back and do a past challenge instead. Share what you make in clayshareprime.com and on your social media with #claysharechallenge
I can’t wait to see what you all make this month!
